you said what?

it's been a very busy week to say the least; i know it's just wednesday. we had a lovely evening at the temple and nia was gracious enough to stay with the kids a little bit longer while we got some christmas shopping done. little did i know, we had an unexpected surprise waiting for us at home. i walked into the house and nia handed me a bus ticket that mese gave to her and conveniently forgot to give to me-yesterday! i walked right back outside to tell mason and it was already 10:30 at night-but no, we had to make this right and we were going to do it now. so yes, we woke our son up and dragged him out of bed to confront him about the bus ticket he got yesterday. he was not happy, but then neither were we. he cried(partly because he was tired and his parents were drilling him for "the word" he said to the other boys, and partly because he really didn't want to repeat the bad word.) but we promised him we wouldn't get too mad if he just told us what the word was-and he did. i was thinking the worse but it wasn't-it could've been but it wasn't. so, we reassured him that we loved him and that it's always best to do what's right, even if it's hard. lesson learned? we'll have to wait and see. can a 5 year old really govern himself???

he knows if you've been bad or good...

saturday night was our ward christmas party-lots of good food, good friends, and good times. the hightlight of the evening,(besides the very lovely scene of joseph, mary ,and baby jesus-played by shawn, darcy, and orin) was when "the big man himself" paid us a visit. imagine sila's shock and surprise when santa (aka mason) informed her of how he knew about her stuffing toilet paper in the bathroom sink and flooding the bathroom and hall(for the 2nd time)-it was classic-and yes, we did get it on tape. santa also told her, and her brother mese, that they needed to stop fighting-don't think that's gonna happen. needless to say, sila still managed to put in her christmas wish-a dora kitchen. whether or not she'll be cooking with dora come christmas morning, only santa knows. as for mese, all he wanted were some new shoes-go figure. and nani just wanted santa to go away. as for me, i managed to steal a kiss from santa-and the kids didn't suspect a thing!
